Charitable Giving

December is the time of year when we think about charitable giving not only because it is the season of giving, but because charitable donations must be made before Dec 31 to be tax deductible in the current year. Donations in excess of $200 generate a federal and provincial tax credits totaling 40%

CanadaHelps allows you to identify and locate registered charities and make donations online. It is also a way to verify that the recipient is in fact a registered charity.

Community Foundation for Lennox & Addington

The Foundation was established in 1987 dedicated to serving and improving the quality of life in all the County of L&A.  Makes grants towards social services, the arts and culture, health, education, recreation, the environment, youth and seniors.  Has over $3.8 million invested to generate income that is re-distributed in the form of grants. More than $1,000,000.00 has been awarded to date in grants and scholarships to individuals and various community organizations.

Morningstar Relief Mission Inc.

The Mission feeds the hungry and disadvantaged – hot meals, food hampers, food vouchers, used clothing, furniture and appliances, counselling services for addiction, relations and mental health needs, volunteer tax preparation for low income people, spiritual guidance in the Anglican tradition and pastoral care; all provided free of charge. No paid employees, and operate entirely by volunteers. All funding is by way of personal donations.

LENNOX & ADDINGTON INTERVAL HOUSE

Interval House runs a safe shelter for women in Napanee with transitional housing in two additional buildings, also in Napanee. Also provides 24-hour crisis line for emergencies. Helps women in crisis to gather the necessary information regarding referral and advocacy, information, support, counselling, safety planning, and an end to isolation.

LENNOX & ADDINGTON COUNTY GENERAL HOSPITAL FOUNDATION

The Foundation is the fund-raising arm for L&A County general Hospital. It is is an independent, charitable organization to encourage and co-ordinate a continuing high level of support for the Hospital and as a prudent steward of funds entrusted to its care.

HOSPICE LENNOX AND ADDINGTON

The Hospice assists and supports clients, caregivers, and their families living with life-threatening illnesses, and offers bereavement care after loss. Staff and volunteers work as part of an interdisciplinary team with community partners to provide holistic care that addresses physical, psycho-social, spiritual, and practical needs. All services offered free of charge.
