In 2011, it was decided that management of the Town’s extensive vehicle fleet was too “fragmented”. A decision was made to create a “Fleet Manager”. The position is held by John Koenig whose role is to manage the Town’s fleet, recommend Corporate Policy to Council, and look after the Joint Purchasing of fleet on a yearly basis. John proposed a “Fleet Rationalization Plan” which established an inventory of the fleet (see below), the replacement plan of fleet and created a pool system for the entire Town to share vehicles that are not needed on a daily basis. Currently staff are working on a “fleet maintenance plan”.

There are a number of issues here. We need someone to compare what we are doing with what is done in other municipalities of similar size. Who wants to do some research here?
